The Florida legislature has for decades worked to ensure as much transparency in the work of government employees, including police officers, as possible. Toward that end, lawmakers passed into law specific language that requires that all documents filed in connection with the detainment of every criminal justice defendant be accessible for publication, viewing, inspection, and copying, by all persons so interested. This includes booking photographs, incident reports, and virtually all papers docketed as both the State of Florida and criminal justice defendants conduct discovery before a criminal trial commences.
